According to The Bachelor lead Zach Shallcross, when he selected the ring to propose to contestant and winner Kaity Biggar, he couldn’t get the one he wanted because a contestant picked out the same one last year. The Bachelor season 27 just ended with Zach’s proposal to Kaity after rejecting Gabi Elnicki. He received some backlash for telling Gabi he was torn about his decision when it seemed like he had already made up his mind, though he has since clarified that the scenes were aired out of order.
The Bachelor‘s Zach Shallcross went on the Chicks in the Office podcast and revealed what it was like choosing an engagement ring to give to Kaity. “I was like, ‘Oh, my god. this is the moment. I don’t want to [mess it up].’” Kaity explained that her “ideal ring–and I’ve told Zach this–would be a gold band with an emerald cut on top.” So going in, Zach knew what he was looking for, but since that was basically the exact ring Tino Franco gave to Rachel Recchia during The Bachelorettes season 19, which just aired last summer, it was a no-go with that style from Neil Diamond, and they had to switch things up.
Bachelor’s Zach Shallcross Finds Second-Best Ring For Kaity
Zach ended up selecting an oval cut and said that he knew “almost immediately” that it would be the second-best ring choice for Kaity. He admitted that the ring was a touch too big at the time of the proposal, but it all worked out in the end. Kaity shared that she is still “so grateful…It is a gorgeous ring.” The two appear to be so happy since they’ve been able to come out of hiding while they have waited for The Bachelor to air and the final decision to be revealed.
Not being able to choose the ideal ring because Tino picked it out on The Bachelorettes may have been a bit disheartening as Tino and Rachel ended up breaking up after he confessed to cheating on her. Despite that, Zach can always go out and get another ring or make her wedding ring the exact one she has always wanted. Speaking of weddings, the two said they could see themselves shooting for 2025 as a potential date, as they want to be able to move in together and spend some time together outside of The Bachelor before rushing into wedding planning.
Kaity was the favorite to win for most fans of The Bachelor season 25. While she was up against Gabi in the finale, Zach followed his heart and proposed to Kaity. The Bachelor is known for its drama, and while the beginning of the season had the usual flair that viewers were used to seeing, it was definitely picked up by the end. With Zach making big and controversial decisions and then changing his own rules, it made for an exciting end to the season. Hopefully, Kaity and Zach are able to remain happy and see their relationship through, and eventually get the exact ring that Kaity has always dreamed of.
